Pieve Aldina is nestled in the heart of the Chianti countryside, near Radda in Chianti, between Florence and Siena. Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and rolling Tuscan hills, it feels wonderfully secluded while still being accessible from several major Italian airports.

FLORENCE AIRPORT (FLR) — RECOMMENDED
Florence is the closest and most convenient airport for Pieve Aldina. Allow approximately 1 hour by car from the airport to the venue. For guests travelling internationally, we recommend connecting through a major European hub and flying into Florence where possible.

PISA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (PSA)
Pisa is another convenient option, particularly if you find a better international connection. Allow approximately 1 hour 30 minutes by car to Pieve Aldina.

ROME FIUMICINO AIRPORT (FCO)
Rome offers significantly more international flight options and may be convenient for guests travelling from Australia. From Rome, you can continue to Tuscany by car or high-speed train via Florence. Rome Termini to Florence Santa Maria Novella takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes by high-speed train.

BY TRAIN
The most convenient major railway station is Florence Santa Maria Novella (Firenze S.M.N.). High-speed trains connect Florence with Rome, Milan, Bologna and other major Italian cities. From Florence station, allow approximately 1 hour 15 minutes by car or private transfer to Pieve Aldina.

BY CAR / PRIVATE TRANSFER
For the final journey into Chianti, we recommend hiring a car or arranging a private transfer. Having a car also gives you the freedom to explore the surrounding Tuscan villages and countryside during your stay.

Pieve Aldina has parking available nearby, and private transfers can be arranged in advance.

For our Australian guests, Italy is part of the Schengen Area. Australian passport holders can currently visit the Schengen Area for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period without a visa.

If you are joining us from somewhere else in the world, please take a moment to check the entry requirements for Italy that apply to your passport before booking your travel.

Italy uses the Euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, although having a small amount of cash is useful for local cafés, markets, smaller towns and incidental purchases.

Exchange rates change constantly, so check the current Australian Dollar to Euro rate before you travel.

May is a beautiful time to experience Tuscany: spring is in full bloom, the countryside is wonderfully green and the days are generally mild to warm.

Pack for beautiful spring days and cooler evenings, with layers for when the sun goes down. We also recommend comfortable shoes for exploring the countryside and historic villages, cobbled streets and heels are not always the best amici.

And, of course, bring something fabulous for the wedding!

In May, Italy observes Central European Summer Time (CEST / UTC+2).

Italy operates on 230V electricity at 50Hz. Australian plugs are different, so guests should bring a suitable European travel adaptor; Italy commonly uses Type C, F and L sockets.

Tipping in Italy is appreciated but generally more modest than in countries where gratuities are expected. For restaurants, taxis and other services, rounding up or leaving a small amount for excellent service is perfectly appropriate.

There are no compulsory vaccinations for entry into Italy under the general travel requirements.

Italy is generally easy to travel through, but keep an eye on belongings in busy tourist areas, airports and railway stations, where pickpocketing can occur.
